Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Faculty of Tourism was established in Nevşehir Province, which is the center of the historical Cappadocia region, which has unique characteristics with its natural historical and cultural riches. The foundation of the Faculty dates back to 1984, when Nevşehir School of Tourism Management and Hotel Management, affiliated to Erciyes University, was established. The faculty was established in 1984 as a school affiliated to the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Erciyes University, and in 2000 it achieved the status of a school directly affiliated to the Rectorate of Erciyes University. With the establishment of Nevşehir University on May 17, 2007, Erciyes University Nevşehir Tourism Management and Hotel Management School was transformed into Nevşehir University Faculty of Commerce and Tourism Education by changing its name, connection and status. The Faculty of Commerce and Tourism Education was closed by a decision of the Council of Ministers on November 13, 2009, and the Faculty of Tourism was established in its place. Thus, the Faculty of Tourism acquired its current structure. The name of our university was changed to Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University by Law No. 6501 published in the Official Gazette dated November 7, 2013.
The mission of the department is to train qualified employees, middle and upper-level management candidates for the tourism sector by providing a modern, scientific and high-quality education in the field of tourism management; to conduct up-to-date research in the field of tourism management and to contribute to the development of regional tourism and tourism enterprises.
There are a wide variety of job opportunities for graduates of the department in enterprises such as transportation enterprises, travel agencies, food and beverage enterprises, accommodation enterprises, museums and national parks in our country, where tourism is developing rapidly.
